We started secrenase in Nov 2002 for our daughter with ASD, now 5. She has come a long way in just 6 months. Chelsea had been doing an ABA program for 3 of those months. She has become a much happier girl. I was keeping diaries of her language when she started secrenase and words became so frequent that I could not keep up. Her sound sensitivities in the beginning appeared to become worse. It has been only recently that we have noticed some of those sensitivities disappear. We are seeing a number of firsts happen...e.g In the last two months she rode a bike, rode a scooter, asked her first 'Why' question and she lied (and it hasn't been the last one either!) In the past two weeks she has taken much more interest in her sister and is engaging in simple play/games with her. At her 5th birthday party everyone commented about the happy, confident girl she is becoming. This is a long way from the girl who was able to only put two words together, unable to respond to a question with 'yes' and not toilet trained only one year ago. She is a long way from being 'out of the woods' however life is definitely much easier and she learns more about her environment everyday. She is now happy to sit and watch kids as she learns what they are doing. She still has some way to go with socialisation but is trying very hard. I can honestly say that everyday we hear a new word come into her vocabulary. She never ceases to surprise us. She appears to now be able to learn the things she couldn't before. Tantrums have all but disappeared out of our life as she understands more and now has the language to feel less frustrated. I can't wait to see where we are one year from now considering the progress she has made in the last one.

Thankyou for your comments on the secretin treatment and it is pleasing to hear the results you have had. I read about the treatment in a magazine called informed choice and have only just checked out the website. Our Son is turning eight this year is not toilet trained has very very limited speech, etc. After reading all the info on the treatment I am prepared to give it a go and just hope I can get the results you have. I would give anything to hear my boy say mum and dad again!

My 8yo son with Aspergers has been doing chelation combined with secretin and he has made wonderful progress, so even at an older age it is sure worth doing. My severely autistic younger son has improved incredibly. He now says "You are the great mum in the world!" and tears come to my eyes every time. I too had thought I would never hear him call me mum. Do secretin, do chelation!!!! felmslie@hotmail.com
