My 3rd son is now 13 years old and was diagnosed with Autism at around age 2. I have 4 other perfectly normal children although my 4th son was born with a heart defect which was surgically corrected shortly after birth.
So far, I have found all the information and treatments for autism too scattered and confusing to trust and follow any system (diets, drug therapies etc) in particular and the result has been to just reject it all, keep my eyes and ears open and wait till something came along that made any sense. I was too scared to cause more damage to my by trying to process it (the information) all by myself and then act on it.
I didn't know exactly what I was waiting for till I found this website. I just hope to God it isn't too late???

contact your local autism society. The most successful treatment worldwide is ABA. It yields great results - especially the earlier you begin a consistant prpgram, and also accounting for level of severity. Contact your autism society and get involved the right way.

Sorry to ask such a basic question but what is ABA therapy?

ABA therapy is an effective form of teaching systematically. We did it for 3 years and our son made reasonable progress, but there was no way he was going to be in the 50% recovered group. Then we did secretin and chelation, and frankly, it was like someone turning on the lights. Our son is virtually recovered. Try the gluten free/casein free diet, the secretin and the chelation, and don't listen to the naysayers. You won't know unless you try. And you will never forgive yourself if you don't try while your child is young enough. felmslie@hotmail.com
